Crafty Times
Crocheting, knitting, baking and all sorts of crafting projects with your kids. I can teach weaving, knotting, beading, braiding, cross stitching, embroidery and sewing. I can do basic woodworking projects. We can also do a baking project, such as cupcakes with fondant based on a theme they like.
I can put together a project based on your child’s interests or I can implement a project you wished you time to do; send me something you have seen in a magazine and I will let you know if we can do it! Depending on ages and projects, we can do with more than one child (sibling or friend) I can tailor a specific project like knit a halloween mask (that would be more advanced!), create a Holiday Card, paper mache bracelets with smaller children or design our own flag.

I have woodworked and made stools with kids that they then use, we have created Holiday Cards (that impress the grandmothers!), I can do the thematic holiday projects that you always want to do, but run out of time for! We can bake together and design and create custom cupcakes.

About Me
I grew up on a dairy and sheep farm in Wisconsin, where we made and grew everything! I am passionate about “doing” with children and engaging their natural curiosity and passionate with hands on learning experiences. When I work with children, I get them so engaged and involved they forget to ask about their Ipad/Iphone. I can’t promise they never ask for a video game again, but you get the idea! I will attend graduate school in the Fall to pursue a masters in education and eventually teach full time. While I am not a professional artisan or baker, my expertise and greatest joy comes from creating and supporting the experience with children. We will get our hands dirty; we will plan and create something they did not know they could do; we will clean up and complete the process. My goal is that they get creative, get engaged and feel pride in a completed project and hopefully a desire to try again! I have a soft spot for sheep and many of my projects can be fiber related, specially around wool.

Rate
$100 for a 2 hour crafting project (planning consultation, materials & clean up included)
$110 for a 2 hour baking projects (planning consultation, materials & clean up included)

Carmen has an uncanny knack for bringing out the creative side in our kids. She has so much patience and can sit with our children and help them learn, by gently encouraging them. She has taught my son to woodwork and has him sanding wood down to create a WHAT? She has also orchestrated projects with our daughter to make amazing cupcakes with the coolest animal designs.
